Bio-Based Yarns
Sustainable Innovation by Milior
Milior’s commitment to a more responsible future takes concrete form through the use of bio-based yarns — derived from renewable natural resources-significantly reducing the reliance on petroleum-based materials.
Q-GEO® is a polyamide 6.6 yarn with a significant bio-based component (46%) derived from non-edible corn waste. It is designed to deliver comfort, durability, and a lower environmental impact compared to traditional yarns. Certified OEKO-TEX® STD 100 CLASS / Appendix 6 and DIN CERTCO (ASTM D 6866:2022), it also comes with an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), ensuring transparency and sustainability across the production chain.
LYCRA® BIO-BASED uses QIRA®, a 1,4-butanediol (BDO) produced via the fermentation of corn-derived sugars, replacing approximately 70% of traditional PTMEG. It maintains the same elasticity, strength, and durability as standard LYCRA®, thanks to its identical chemical structure. The fiber is USDA BioPreferred® certified, ensuring internationally recognized renewable content and sustainability standards.
To these plant-based fibers, we add our in-house technical expertise: customized elasticization and blends with noble fibers give rise to a new generation of fabrics that combine performance, tactile richness, and refined aesthetics.
THE NEW FABRICS INCLUDE
• Two yarns blended with silk — one finer, one more structured – offering a noble and versatile feel
• A 50/50 wool/silk blend, delivering an exceptionally soft and fluid hand
• A super-twisted cotton yarn, featuring a dynamic texture with a subtle “crepe-like” effect
• A wool/cashmere blend for a warm and refined feel next to the skin
PERFORMANCE
• Advanced moisture management: +50% absorbency compared to conventional polyamides
• Ultra-fast drying and flame-retardant properties without additives
• Superior softness and comfort, thanks to cotton, silk, wool, and cashmere
• Excellent abrasion resistance and dimensional stability
• A lustrous, sophisticated, or technical look, depending on the fabric structure
RECOMMENDED FINAL USES: Lightweight trench coats and parkas – Fluid jackets and outerwear – Contemporary dresses – Soft yet structured trousers – Elegant outerwear

Sustainable Innovation
Technology and responsibility in the yarns of the future
Milior’s sustainable innovation stems from a thoughtful, conscious process in which our team carefully selects next-generation man-made yarns, the result of research, technology, and responsibility. Each choice is driven by a clear goal: to design ethical and high-performance fabrics that respect the environment without compromising on aesthetics, functionality, or the technical know-how that defines Milior’s identity. Recycled, bio-based, or low-impact materials become active ingredients in the development of contemporary, traceable, and forward-thinking collections.
THE SUSTAINABLE YARNS BEHIND OUR FABRICS TODAY:
NEWLIFE® by Sinterama: 100% recycled polyester made from post-consumer PET bottles, transformed through a mechanical process that uses no chemical agents. The result is a high-quality, certified, and traceable yarn that significantly reduces water and energy consumption compared to virgin polyester.
Q-GEO® by Fulgar: A bio-based polyamide made with 46% renewable content derived from non-edible industrial corn, cultivated on non-agricultural land. It delivers high technical performance while reducing the environmental footprint through lower water use and greenhouse gas emissions.
AMNI SOUL ECO® by Fulgar: A biodegradable polyamide engineered to break down quickly in landfills and marine environments, reducing microplastic accumulation. It maintains the comfort, durability, and easy-care properties of traditional polyamides.
Q-NOVA® by Fulgar: A recycled Nylon 6.6 yarn made from industrial waste through a low-impact mechanical process without chemical treatments. It is GRS, EU Ecolabel, and OEKO-TEX® STD 100 Class / certified, ensuring full traceability and environmental responsibility.
Q-CYCLE® by Fulgar: A sustainable nylon derived from the chemical recycling of end-of-life tires via pyrolysis, transforming waste into secondary raw material. It offers performance equivalent to virgin polyamide, with a significantly reduced environmental impact.
LYCRA® bio-based: Made using QIRA®, a 1,4-butanediol (BDO) obtained by fermenting corn-derived sugars. It replaces around 70% of traditional PTMEG while maintaining the same elasticity, strength, and durability of conventional LYCRA®, thanks to its identical chemical structure. The fiber is USDA BioPreferred® certified, meeting internationally recognized standards for renewable content and sustainability.
PERFORMANCE
• Reduced environmental impact, thanks to the use of recycled, biodegradable, and bio-based materials
• High traceability, supported by international certifications for full supply chain transparency
• Comfort and durability, with mechanical and sensory properties equivalent to traditional yarns
• Versatile applications, suitable for a wide range of contemporary men’s and women’s fabrics and garments
